NTITT’s “Hikers Digest”

Hello once again fellow hikers. Seeing that the year is drawing to a close and the majority of hiking clubs have strung up their hiking boots after a successful year of hiking, at Nature Trekking, I cannot afford to close up shop for the year simply because NTITT has to continue fulfilling its objectives in meeting the needs of its clients in the field of hiking and tours that is in need and so, reliability and high standards are the hallmarks of NTITT that must be maintained at all times.

 Review of last week.

Tuesday 29th November.  I attended an important meeting with a client where a television crew from Spain was coming to Trinidad to do some recordings of places in Trinidad for their ongoing show in Madrid, Spain where they highlight life and culture in countries all over the world, and this occasion was Trinidad’s turn. I went over and made recommendations where they would visit Arima for a walk around and a hike to Turure Water-steps to highlight a bit of the beauty of Trinidad’s forest. It was agreed by all and I appraised the narrator of what should be said, for the recording with the television crew of the history of Arima is in Spanish and I cannot speak a word in Spanish…lol.

Wednesday 30th November, I picked up (2) members of (Tele-Madrid) who were staying at Royal Palm Hotel and we all met at Trincity Mall where after introductions were made, we left for Arima and from there the recording was done while I was just there to ensure that the places of interest was being highlighted. After Arima, we then departed for our hike to Turure Water-steps. The overall hike and the weather were great and Turure River was just beautiful and the cameraman was very pleased at the overall recording. After our visit at Turure, I dropped the television crew over at my client’s residence and I then took my departure.

Friday 02nd December, I picked up (3) clients at the Water-Taxi Terminal and from there, we departed immediately for Blanchisseuse where they checked in at “Laguna Mar” Guest House and after a bit of a rest, we set off on our hike to Marianne/Avocar Waterfalls from the Spring Bridge. The walk was a pleasant one despite the constant light drizzle that plagued the entire day and so, the trail was slippery all the way which was quite trying for my clients. I realized that when we reached to the waterfalls, heading back to Guest House was asking too much for them and so, I took them over at “Pops” place just a 20 minute walk from the Waterfalls and then made my way back to get my vehicle to pick them up. All and all, the day was well spent from my clients’ point of view and they reached back safely and I departed from Blanchisseuse bound for home.

I am very pleased to inform you that I got an email from “Iberia Airlines”, national airlines of Spain expressing their desire in highlighting NTITT and its services on their “in-flight” magazine starting from January 2012. Plans are underway in furnishing them the necessary information needed to make this dream a reality for me.

Saturday 03rd December, I got up at 4:30am and got ready to meet Richard from Caribbean Hiking Adventures and his crew in Chaguaramas where I was going to show them a new trail from Morne Catherine to the Chaguaramas Golf Course. The weather during our entire walk from the bottom to the top of the mountain was a constant drizzle, but the place was cool and we did the walk in great time, and then we took the trail all the way down the very steep terrain until we eventually reached back to our vehicles. From Chaguaramas, I had to make a hasty retreat to reach Blanchisseuse at a certain time to pick up my clients who wanted to leave a bit early due to the horrific weather in Blanchisseuse and head back to La Brea. We chatted all the way to La Brea and at the end, happy clients they were.

Sunday 04th December. Hike day once again for me as I met my clients (church group) at Mt. Hope and we made our way to Turure Water-steps. The original destination was the North Oropouche River, but due to the heavy rainfall the night before, I recommended otherwise and how right I was at that, for Richard my buddy called and said that North Oropouche River was very brown. The hike was a great one and when we reached to the Water-steps, the water was clean and beautiful and what was even more fascinating was that the river was filled to the brim with water hereby making the Water-steps (heaven) indeed.  Every hiker had a ball here and yes, a memorable day was enjoyed by one and all.

Upcoming hike(s) this week.

Saturday 10th December is a day NTITT is seriously contemplating doing another hike to “Paria Bay and Waterfalls” simply due to the very unpredictable weather we are experiencing of late and after careful thought, decided that regardless of the weather, this hike in particular is a safe one, rain or no rain. As usual, NTITT will be doing it one-way hiking and taking the boat on the return hereby affording you the opportunity in really appreciating the great forest and secluded beaches accessible only by hiking by both the fit and more importantly the not so fit hikers.

If all goes well with NTITT, on Wednesday 07th and Sunday 11th December private hikes will be in effect and of course, a brief overview will be stated on the expeditions on the next issue of “Hikers Digest”.

General Information.

Effective on the 01st January 2012, NTITT will be advertising all of its hikes and tours via the newspapers and other advertising medium as the company is striving to reach to the wider cross-section of the general public where they will be immediately directed to the website for upcoming events.

Once again, all hikes/tours will always be limited to a certain amount of persons and according to the popularity of any expedition; provisions will be put in place to facilitate as many persons as possible over a period of time.

As far as “Membership hiking” is concerned, before the start of the New Year, prices for all hikes and tours will be stated for your perusal so that you can plan your future expeditions with NTITT. Remember, Membership prices will be cheaper than general prices.
