El Cerro del Aripo Mountain

This is certainly a hike for your bucket list. Once it is accomplished, there is a great sense of pride.

Brace for a long day of uphill and downhill hiking to the tallest peak of Trinidad and Tobago, El Cerro del Aripo (3,085 feet/940 meters) . Firstly trek along asphalt road, to the summit of Lalaja Road and oversee the Central Plains and other mountains in the vicinity. Cross a  couple of refreshing river streams on this path.

At Lalaja Road, veer onto dirt trail for constant uphill trekking into forest to a "T- Junction" then walk on a very narrow trail throughout the balance of this hike. On heading to the summit, thick vegetation of natural rain-forest is welcomed, along ridges and undulating terrain.

Unfortunately at this elevation, there are absolutely no views. However lush vegetation encircles. It's a "Return Hike"...i.e. the same trail is used for the return trip.

Beautiful vistas on Lalaja Road

Fantastic rain-forest experience
