Cedros Village to Icacos Point

Details

Welcome to the end of Trinidad from the south-western side.

Come and experience the only available hike in the south-western peninsula. The hike begins downtown Cedros from the Health Center, along a quiet road into rural parts of Cedros that was once populated during the 'heyday' of coconut cultivation.

Trek to low-keyed "Hindu Temple"  which is surrounded by a number of relatively large "Mud Puddles". The occasional bubbling of this mud signifies volcanic activities occurring below the earth in this area.

Move along to notable coconut estate previously known as "Constance Estate". Although it is abandoned, this estate is still in relatively great shape. Coconut trees stands majestically and creates a spectacular sight.

Continue trekking a bit further on  Southern Main Road then onto a track (road) that leads through another abandoned coconut estate to "Gulf of Paria".

Welcome to the most popular beach of Fullarton Village known as "Columbus Bay" which is frequented by villagers and local visitors. Take photos at "Los Gallos Rocks".  Now brace for a relatively long trek along the beach to the very end of Trinidad. There are several small lagoons meeting the sea, so a change of footwear is advisable or just walk barefooted.

Now because Orinoco River from neighboring Venezuela usually overflows its banks,  waters of Gulf of Paria can be either pristine or discoloured. This part of the Gulf also meets "Columbus Channel".  At the end of Gulf, of Paria observe houses that are badly destroyed from sea currents.

Welcome to "Icacos Village". Swim in Columbus Channel, and enjoy a meal before embarking on the journey back North.
