Grande Riviere to (Big Bay) Sans Souci
This hike is heavily recommended to folks who are staying in Grande Riviere area during the "Turtle Laying Season (March to August)"
Start this hike anywhere in Grande Riviere village, along (new) Old Paria Man Road to well known "Grande Riviere Bridge". After the bridge, start an uphill trek along pitch road to a very familiar dirt trail. Enjoy aerial views of Grande Riviere on the way to Sans Souci with some occasional astounding views of the Caribbean Sea.
Note that during the rainy season the terrain can be a bit overgrown, however, once the trail is maintained, trekking is absolutely great.
On this trail, remnants of yesteryear comes into view.....an old bridge, few ancient houses. Closer to Sans Souci, signs of life emerges as forest around diminishes and fantastic views of rugged coastline and aquamarine waters of the Caribbean Sea becomes very visible.
Trek downhill into Sans Souci, where a short distance away is a beach that is a "surfers paradise". Swimming is obviously not advised due to the large waves and strong currents. Continue to well known "Big Bay". Swim and relax at this fascinating location.
