Details of the tour and hike
Welcome to southern Trinidad in a quiet little village of Penal where we head on to little known "Bunsee Trace" where it was right here in the heyday of sugarcane plantation, where sugar canes were brought to be weighed before being sent off to the respective sugarcane factory.
Pending on weather conditions, one can easily drive right up to this volcanic cone where we can relax and enjoy the wonderful phenomenon of nature's wonder. Bathing inside the volcanic cone is STRICTLY prohibited with me for safety reasons. One can sit by the edges of the cone and enjoy that bit of mud bath before we proceed for a further 35 minute walk through the teak field and through natural forest until we finally reach to L'eau Michel Beach which actually is part of the Columbus Channel.
Pending on the time of the year, this beach though always nice and calm, can be brown in complexion due to the overflow of the Orinoco Delta which is in Venezuela not far from our location......nevertheless, bathing in the sea is safe regardless.
Distance from the mud volcano to the beach (one way) is 1.3 miles.
